Question: What do you get when you have beautiful weather, 15 enthusiastic females and 10 of the nation's finest softball players?
Answer: JAMOJA GIRLS SOFTBALL SEMI-CAMP. On September 14, 2006, Jamoja held its' first girls softball Semi-Camp. Each young female had individual hands on training. The camp was held at SunnyLand Park in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The Semi-Camp was absolutely great. Members of the Bethune-Cookman College softball team provided the campers with many softball tips and tactics that aided the campers with their interest in softball. The girls' ages ranged from 3 years old to 15 years old.
The featured guest speaker was Coach Catherine Cochran, the new head softball coach at Bethune-Cookman College. The young girls were really touched with her motivational speech on success through hard work and perserverance. Coach Cochran emphasized enjoying "the most out of your youth" because it is very important to enjoy your younger years. But at the same time, be focused on your school work, your sport and your family.
The camp concluded with a softball game that was exciting, entertaining and competitive. All of the kids had a chance to exhibit what they had learned. There were burgers and refreshments for the kids and their families to enjoy courtesy of The City of Daytona Beach Leisure Services.
The camp was made possible by the help and support of The City of Daytona Beach Leisure Services, Bethune-Cookman College Softball Team, the Daytona Beach Community College Softball Team and site10.alternateimage.com.
