TENNIS SEMI-CAMP (10/21/06)
I don’t know how Jamoja does it, but Jamoja does it. On Saturday, October 21st Jamoja Semi-Camps served another ace when it held it first Tennis Semi-Camp. There were over 20 camp participants ranging from the age of 3 to 33, and over 11 of the finest Tennis Coaches you could find in the land.

The Tennis Semi-Camp was held at Derbyshire Tennis Complex in beautiful Daytona Beach. Guest counselors included members from the Bethune Cookman College Tennis team, Johnny Van Session from KIDSPORTS & USTA, Anthony Murphy, and the ever most enthusiastic Frank Palumbo who was also our featured speaker. Coach Palumbo dazzled the Semi-Campers with his knowledge with life and Tennis. The Semi-Camp had such a great atmosphere that you had no choice to leave with a smile. One parent said it feels good to know that there is an actual organization that really cares for the kids, the people, and the community. Thank You Jamoja.

We would like to thank all those that participated and helped. Our Sponsors, KIDSPORTS, City of Daytona Beach Leisure Services, Bethune Cookman College Tennis Team, and the many wonderful volunteers who made this event an absolute success.

I like to congratulate the Jamoja camp for their interest they are showing for our kids on the community level, because of the efforts they are putting into getting these young children into something that is organized, and teaching them respect for learning, and grooming their talent and capacity to develope so early, those potential skills that can last for a lifetime. Surely at such a young age, they will gain confidence and love for self, that will be of great help to overcome many other disappointments and diversities in life while growing up, that will help them to struggle on and reach goals far beyond anything they could imagine. This is truly a head start for success. Every community, worldwide, should have a jamoja camp.
