Game 1, 2, and 3.
This is the post in the "Weekender" a type of newspaper in Sioux City... "As the Colorado Rockies were inching closer and closer to their first World Series, rookie power forward Marcus Steinhauer was suiting up for his first game as a Destroyer. Coach Thompson's Destroyers opened their season against the Helena Hornets who ended up winning their division last year by a 4 point (2 game) margin. The Hornets finished last season 49-24-9 (107 points), while the Destroyers finished 41-29-12 (94 points). Sioux City began the scoring Sunday 7:32 into the first period with a goal coming from Stephane Da Larouse. The Larouse goal was assisted by William Brossman, and the rookie sensation Marcus Steinhauer. The Larouse, Brossman, Steinhauer line were responsible for 3 of the 4 goals tallied in the contest with Steinhauer getting 1 goal, and two assists, Larouse getting 2 goals, 1 assist, and Brossman getting 2 assists. The other goal, which was at 16:23 of the 3rd period, tying up the game 4-4, was a beautiful pass from David Lovell to Tony Price, who beat goaltender Justin Adams top shelf, glove side. The game then went into a scoreless 4 on 4, 5 minute overtime, and then into a shootout. The shootout ended up being a 13 man shootout, for Helena, only the 3rd shooter (Mark Anderson), and 7th shooter (Phil Robinson) were able to score on Sioux City goaltender Steven Petersen, but it was just enough as Sioux City's own Marcus Steinhauer was the only skater to score for the Destroyers. Sioux City travels to Helena to tangle with them again Friday. The Destroyers can be found on Fox Sports Radio 620." So that sums up our first game, our 2nd game against Helena we ended up winning 7-5. I got 1 goal and an assist in that game to up my total points to 2 goals, 3 assists for 5 points in 2 games. Saturday, against Ontario, we ended up winning 8-3. I got 2 goals, and 2 assists that game, and we are now 2-0-1 (5 points), 1 point out of first place Helena who is 3-1-0 (6 points)." So in 3 games, I have 4 goals, 5 assists, that is good for a tie for 3rd scorer in the league, as two are ahead of me, with 13 points, and 11 points. I am tied with two other people for 3rd place in scoring, while 1 of the people has 5 goals, 4 assists, and the other has 2 goals, 7 assists. Its a blast playing in this league. The Atlanta Thrashers just fired their coach, which is crazy but oh well haha. I may be moving up for a 3 game series next month for Atlanta, but I am not completely sure.
