 SEMI-CAMPS - At a Glance
Community-based athletic seminars and camps called "Semi-Camps" will be established across the world. The Semi-Camps will focus on providing professional and athletic counseling for youth, especially the young adults aspiring both professional and athletic careers. The camps will focus on teaching the attendants on how to use athletics as a tool to be successful in their athletic, educational, professional and life skill development.

Jamoja Semi-Camps will utilize volunteers who are student athletes in the high schools and colleges in the local communities. Each student will earn community service hours while also participating in a form of a big brother big sister program.

In addition, Jamoja reaches out to other community groups to share resources and collaborate on events, in order to achieve a common goal of educating and supporting youth and families.

The Semi-Camps are a wonderful opportunity for children and young adults to enjoy exciting recreational activities in their cities. They will learn the prospective sport from quality counselors while having a lot of fun. They will also participate in seminar functions. The camp attendants will get a full learning experience that will help them in their sport, along with life development..

» JAMOJA Semi-Camps Just Getting Started!!
It's been 1 year since the  first JAMOJA Semi- Camp.   Throughout the year we have been conducting many Camps & Instructional Clinics.  Helping build communities has been the main focus. It was done by teaching people about the joy of sports and the realities of the world.

Since August 2006 we have done 5 Semi-Camps and more than 8 Reach & Teach Instructional Clinics throughout the country including Florida , New Jersey , Pennsylvania , and Massachusetts .  Only thing the success of each event required was time, passion, and love. And that has been JAMOJA’s most important priority; to reach and teach.

We have gone to basketball courts, gymnasiums, fields, and everything in between to lend a hand, bring awareness, and teach.  From Tennis, to Softball, Football, and Basketball this is just the beginning of our fulfillment of our mission.  So be on the lookout in 2008 for more sports in more gyms, fields, courts, pools, and ice, in more villages, towns, cities, states, countries, and continents throughout the world.
You never know where we might pop up.

After 1 year of our services, all of our camps and clinics have been extremely successful.  Every month has been a success.  It is not the number of participants that attend, but the number of people who are touched.  All it takes is 1.  Just 1…

Help 1 person at a time, and from there allow that individual to Keep Passing The 1.

» BASKETBALL SEMI-CAMP (11/17/06)
It seems like every time Jamoja shoots, Jamoja scores. This week was a slam-dunk for Jamoja. Jamoja held it’s first youth Basketball Semi-Camp, and it was nothing but net.

The Semi-Camps were held at two sites at the same time for four days straight. The Dickerson Center, and Cypress Street Park were home for the four-day event. The girls Semi-Camp were held on Monday and Wednesday for girls between 6 – 16 years old. The boys Semi-Camp were held on Tuesday and Thursday for boys between 5 – 16 years old. There was a great buzz surrounding the four-day long event. If anyone has ever been to a Jamoja Semi-Camp you can understand why.

What you get is quality instruction from quality counselors, and quality seminars from quality people. The best part of Jamoja Semi-Camps is that every participant leaves with a better perspective of life. “Its so good to see an organization who cares so much for the people. Its great to see a lot of these kids off the streets and being exposed to positive things from people who cares.” said Sheila Brown a parent who brought both of her children to the Semi-Camp. Among the counselors were members of the Bethune-Cookman College men and women Basketball team. Among the featured speakers were Cynthia Slater President of the NAACP Daytona Beach, and Gravelle Graig assistant coach of Bethune-Cookman College.

“This was a big week for us at Jamoja, not only did we have a week long Basketball Semi-Camp, the website was launched on Monday to compliment the event,” said Anis Taylor, CEO of Jamoja. “ I could not have pictured a better start for Jamoja. We have completed four Semi-Camps and it seems like each one gets better.” The Basketball Semi-Camps was made possible by the help and support of The City of Daytona Beach Leisure Services, Bethune-Cookman College men’s and women’s Basketball Team, American Marketing Association Bethune-Cookman College chapter and all the coaches, counselors and volunteers.
