Hey this is Kannon Burage from East Moline United Township high school and I'm dropping my first journal for Illinoishsbasketball.com.
Last Year I didn't play any AAU ball, instead I went to the Blue Chip High Potential Basketball Camp in Georgetown, Kentucky. I came there as virtually a nobody who hadn't proved himself yet and left as one of the top underclassmen in the state. My expectation for this summer is to prove myself once again that I am one of the top players in the class of 09. Anything less would be a major disappointment. I am currently on the Quad City Select AAU team and our goal is to compete hard in the games we play. I know a lot of teams are stacked with two or maybe 3 top players in the state and I believe when we play them that will only bring out the best in me.
As of now I am not receiving much recruiting interest, just some from schools like Western Kentucky, University of Northern Iowa, and that's about it. I am going to a lot of NCAA certified camps where college coaches should be, so my recruiting interest should increase greatly.
As for my school we had an up and down season. We started the season out as one of the top 30 teams in the state but we struggled. I feel I had a very productive year averaging 10 points and helping lead my team to a second place finish in conference. I was named Sophomore of The Year for my conference (Western Big Six), We went to the best tournament in Illinois (76th Annual Pontiac Tourney) and had a chance to play against SImeon but we were defeated in the first round and in the consolation championship.
About me, I'm a very outgoing guy sometimes laid back. I like to hang with my friends from my basketball team and just go to the park by myself everyday and shoot maybe 500 shots. I listen to rap music all the time my favorite rapper is Lil' Wayne.
Look out for my second journal coming soon, and look out for me this summer playing with Quad City Select.
